Accuse Me of Treason?

August 4, 2009 Political Blog 5 Comments

Today, like many other days, we were once again attacked for our staunchly conservatives views which we express freely on Twitter.com. Once again, the far left has taken to its old tactic of destroying the messenger when they cannot destroy the message.

Today, like many times in the past, my exercise of my right to free speech and dissent against the current administration in power in Washington, DC, drew its usual derision from the far left, but today they went too far. I was called a traitor and accused of treason.

Treason? For voicing my views? For decrying the state of our republic at the hands of an elected class that holds no regard for our founding documents, and more specifically, The Constitution of the United States of America? They pay no attention to the people of the United States in their peaceful redress of grievances, and yet I’m the traitor?

Well, that is more than this old Marine can take. And it is more than I will stand for again. I served this nation honorably for five years in the United States Marine Corps. I was honorably discharged on August 3, 1984, exactly 25 years ago today.

Since my honorable discharge, I have worked tirelessly for my community. I have served as a Cubmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, coached youth sports, and devoted a great deal of my time to the American Legion. I will not stand by and be called a traitor to this once great nation by the far left any longer.

Treason is the only crime specifically and narrowly defined by the Constitution in Article III, Section 3:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

The law is very clear. To accuse anyone of a crime for which there is no supporting evidence is libelous, slanderous, or defamatory, per sePer se, simply means that upon proof that the charge is baseless, no further proof of intent or other malice is necessary to find against the defendant in such an action.

But as we have found out time and time again, the left has no respect for the law, the Constitution or free speech of any kind, unless you agree with them.

I see a left in this country that is bankrupt. Bankrupt of honor, decency, and the tolerance they demand so fervently for their own issues.

What kind of nation have we become where honest dissent is now equivalent to a crime possibly punishable by death in the minds of the far left?

This is not the America I swore to defend with everything I had, up to and including my life.

The day may come where it is a crime to speak out against a renegade government, and I’m sure many on the left eagerly look forward to that day. But that day is not here, and it won’t come, God willing, as long as I’m alive.

    GREAT post!

We are not “traitors” for peacefully voicing our concerns, but I would almost venture to say that there are those in the Democratic party (ASIDE from the flag-burners-stompers sporting vulgar signage and inciting violence, etc.), Pelosi for instance, whose actions & words meet the definition of “treason.” She has openly said, directly TO illegal aliens & for all the nation to hear, that it is “unAmerican” to enforce our own laws by requiring “legal entry” of immigrants into our country … in my opinion, that is an issue of national security (how long before someone crosses the border w/a suitcase full of a biological weapon of mass murder?) She is literally inciting and creating a dangerous scenerio for our nation. She has called the CIA, the ENTIRE “CIA,” liars and has been allowed to “get by” with that pronouncement … is this not a form of “adhering to our enemies?” Dear God! I honestly think perhaps we should hold a hearing on Nancy Pelosi with “Treason” as the charge.
